Assistant professor Robert Chao Romero is the son of a Chinese mother and a Mexican father. Family history eventually awakened an interest in the story of Chinese immigrants in Mexico. His book "The Chinese in Mexico, 1882-1940" may be the first English-language account to tell the tragic tale.

Read Discovery of his roots leads him to track history of Chinese in Mexico in UCLA Today.
