Chancellor-designate Gene Block

Gene Block, former vice-president and provost of the University of Virginia, was confirmed December 21, 2006 as the ninth chancellor of UCLA. Block, who was chosen from a pool of about 100 candidates, plans to continue developing the University as a world-class institution, tackling such issues as diversity and cuts in government spending.
