Dive In: Welcome Week 2007

  • Published Sep 20, 2007 12:00 AM

Move-In Weekend is the time to say goodbye to your family, unpack your suitcases, and divvy up space with your roommate. But classes don’t start until Sept. 27. What happens in between?

Welcome Week, a series of events designed to kick-start the undergraduate experience at UCLA, fills the gap.

It all starts Sunday, Sept. 23 with Bruin Bash: outdoor concert, dance and midnight movie. Then sleep in until 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24. That's the start of The Enormous Activities Fair, which makes it easy to find other people on campus who share your interests. The intramural field is dotted with tables, tents, and groups vying for your attention – not to mention all the giveaways, demos and performances.

Later in the week the choices include casino night, club sports jamboree, job fairs and ocean sports sampler.

The grand finale: yes, you do need to go to class, beginning Thursday, Sept. 27.
