Mei Lani Renger's patients are acutely ill. Many are accident victims. Some are airlifted from other hospitals. All have suffered some degree of brain damage.
For 15 years Renger, now a senior nurse, has worked in neuroICU at the UCLA medical center, tending to patients and enduring sadness and loss alongside the occasional miracle.
